Sunday is the only day I dare use the local trains in Mumbai. Packed like sardines, Mumbai's life line is used by millions of people every week to commute to office and back. Here are a couple of snapshots -

Churchgate station: The southern end

A commuter showing life a finger or two...

Love the last pic.. very cool!

From someone who's about to leave Mumbai a.k.a Bombay(which it always has been for me, despite Shiv Sena's attempts to Mumbai-ise the city!), your photographs of Gateway of India, the Taj, Churchgate station and the train commuter had me experiencing nostalgia even before I'm truly gone...nothing like our trains is there? You HAVE to try the Virar locals once to get the real taste of things!;)

Ooops..that last comment was by me - I keep forgetting that this new commenting system has this ridiculous anonymous option!

Hey Geetanjli,

Thanks for your comments. Heard the legend of the Virar special. That bad eh...!

You leaving Bombay for good? Saw your blog...studies? I too will be back in Delhi in a couple of months...hope I can take back some good memories...(travelling in locals is not one of them ;))

Cheers

Hi Sudhakar,

Thanks for your comments. I see you got a cool photoblog too. Let me give it a visit!

Cheers

nice capture... didnt notice the finger till i read the comment :) good work - avis

The last pic was pretty nifty. I'm sure the gentleman in the pic wasn't aware of the message he was sending to the hundreds of Mumbaikars, not that they had time to notice it neway.
