This week we break away from my usual photography session to bring you the weird-est press release I have seen for a long time -
Marvel Comics announces the launch of Spider-Man India.
Check out the sketches of spidy's new "avatar" - Pavitr Prabhakar (no kidding! Pavitr Prabhakar!)
Here's a byte of the press quote - "Spider-Man India interweaves the local customs, culture and mystery of modern India, with an eye to making Spider-Man's mythology more relevant to this particular audience. Readers of this series will not see the familiar Peter Parker of Queens under the classic Spider-Man mask, but rather a new hero - a young, Indian boy named Pavitr Prabhakar. As Spider-Man, Pavitr leaps around rickshaws and scooters in Indian streets, while swinging from monuments such as the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal."

Pavitra Prabhakar? Sounds like a tongue twister to me :-). How does he get even with bad guys - well before they can even say his same, he has spun his web ;-)
Peter's pals call him "Pete". What will Pavitr's pals call him?
"Pavvi"??
And there is, of course, the "Makdi-maanav" joke. It kind of reminds me of the Channel [V] advertisement wherein Santa Singh and Banta Sinh are joined by Makdee Singh who is a grand 2 inches, has 8 legs and a tiny turan beneath the suit. :D
